Ms. Lorelei Constant is an Indigenous Cree woman from James Smith Cree Nation. She has liver cirrhosis. Ms. Constant was very sick until receiving a liver transplant four years ago. She feels very fortunate about the care she received. Her healing journey was smooth with all the support from healthcare providers and family members. Currently, Ms. Lorelei is closely working with University of Saskatchewan researchers and other community members on a peer navigator program for Indigenous persons living with chronic gastrointestinal and liver conditions. She wants to promote culturally safe care by drawing on traditional Indigenous cultural practices.
