Dr. Montano-Loza is a Hepatologist and Professor of Medicine at the University of Alberta. He is the Medical Director of the Liver Transplant Program, Gastroenterology Division Research Lead and Co-Director of the Autoimmune Liver Clinic. He has obtained 2012 and 2019 Department of Medicine Clinical Investigation Publication Awards, the 2021 Alberta Society of Gastroenterology Distinguished Research Award, the 2023 Research Excellence Award from the Canadian Association for Study of the Liver, and the 2024 Department of Medicine Paul W. Armstrong Excellence in Research Award. He has co-authored over 220 peer-reviewed manuscripts with more than 15,652 citations.
